Baha Omary Kikhia is a female Syrian artist who trained in Fine Arts at the Universities of Baghdad and Damascus in the late 1960s, after which which she moved to live between New York and Paris, where her paintings took off. Her artwork is inspired by women in the Arab world: the social challenges they face and their position as powerful creators and revolutionaries - whether they are aware of their power or not. Today, she continues to produce artwork from her home studio in Richmond, Virginia.
